Manage your number inventory

Who this is for: anyone running more than a handful of numbers, where +13105559876 stops being a useful name for anything. Time: 10 minutes to set up a labelling scheme; seconds per number after that. Where this lives: Numbers · Numbers → Labels · Campaigns → Number Group

Every tracking number can carry a custom name, plus one or more reusable labels shared across the organisation.

  1. Create the labels you need under Numbers → Labels. Design the scheme before you apply it — labels are organisation-wide, and renaming them later touches every number that uses them.

  2. Go to Numbers and edit a number to assign its name and labels.

  3. To do many at once, select multiple rows in the Numbers list and assign names or labels in bulk. Use add mode to preserve existing labels, or replace mode to overwrite the label set on the selected numbers.

Expected result: the Numbers list shows the name and labels alongside each number, and campaign number selectors show them too — so you can tell two similar numbers apart before you attach the wrong one.

Once numbers are named and labelled you can:

  • Search the Numbers list by number name or label text
  • Filter the list by one or more labels
  • Include Name and Labels in CSV exports

A number attached to a campaign can be stopped without detaching or deleting it. The attachment, configuration, and history all survive.

Action Where Effect
Disable Campaigns → Number Group The campaign-number attachment stops receiving traffic but stays configured for later
Enable Campaigns → Number Group Reactivates the attachment
Pause / Resume Numbers list A temporary traffic stop on an attached number

The Numbers grid shows whether an attached number is active, paused, or inactive. Calls to an inactive or paused campaign-number attachment are blocked before routing and recorded with the corresponding reason — so the call still shows up in reporting with an explanation, rather than vanishing.

Expected result: a test call to a paused number is rejected before routing and appears in the call log with the reason, not as a silent failure.

Marking a publisher inactive blocks traffic tied to that publisher across both static and publisher numbers, and blocks their inbound RTB pings and claimed calls. Numbers, endpoints, and campaign setup are preserved; reactivating the publisher restores eligible traffic.

Campaign number groups and inbound RTB publisher rows label inactive publishers and say that traffic is blocked because of the parent publisher — so if a number looks correctly configured and still takes no calls, check the publisher above it.

Numbers → Export produces a CSV of your number inventory and its associated configuration, following whatever search and sort you currently have applied on the page. Organisation and publisher number views are both supported where available.

The export includes:

Column group Contents
The number Phone number, name, labels
Association Associated campaign and publisher
Status Attachment status — Active, Inactive, Paused, or Publisher Inactive
Provisioning Number status, order status, order date
Configuration Number pool, phone type, provider
References Relevant record IDs

Expected result: a CSV you can reconcile against an invoice or a client’s number list without copying rows out of the portal by hand.

Symptom Likely cause Fix
Number takes no calls but looks configured The attachment is paused or inactive, or the parent publisher is inactive Check the status column in the Numbers grid, then the publisher
Pause does nothing The attachment was already inactive Enable it, then pause
Bulk label assignment wiped existing labels Replace mode was used instead of add Re-apply in add mode; there is no undo
A label rename broke a saved filter Labels are organisation-wide and shared Settle the scheme before applying it broadly
Export is missing numbers you expected The export follows the current search and sort Clear the search filters and export again
