Why are there many RTB requests but no calls?

Written by Luis Colmenares

This means the platform is receiving RTB ping traffic, but the requests are not converting into connected calls.

This is very common during RTB testing or when buyer demand is low.

Common reasons include:

  • Buyers are not bidding

  • Bid amounts are too low

  • Required parameters are missing

  • Buyer filters do not match the traffic

  • High rejection rates from buyers

  • TCPA or geographic restrictions

  • Caller profile does not meet campaign requirements

  • Calls are timing out before routing

You can identify this in:

  • Ping-to-Call Ratio

  • Converted-to-Call Ratio

  • Inbound RTB Requests

  • RTB Trends Over Time

Example

If you see:

  • 10,000 RTB requests

  • 0 connected calls

It usually means buyers are receiving pings but rejecting the traffic or not returning valid bids.

What to check

  • Verify all required RTB parameters are being sent

  • Confirm buyers are active and bidding

  • Review buyer filters and targeting rules

  • Check processing times and timeout settings

  • Inspect RTB request logs for errors or reject reasons

  • Confirm campaigns and routing plans are configured correctly

High RTB traffic without calls is usually a traffic quality, buyer response, or configuration issue rather than a platform problem.
